What once was old, is new again.
Revita Medical Esthetics and Spa has a newly renovated home in the former Church of Hosannahs in Hyde Park at Gainsborough Road. But, upon entering for your appointment, you won’t be sitting in a pew. Owner Lily Seed worked for 27 months with New York-based architect Deborah Mariotti as well as Mark Hiemstra of J-Rydan Homes in London, Ontario to restore the exterior and completely redesign the interior of this historic site.
Built in 1888, the church didn’t need too much work, according to Seed. “The church itself was in pretty good condition. So, I joked that I just needed to give it some Botox and fillers (laughs). I purposefully kept the original look of the outside of the building – nothing special, very humble and grounded. But the inside is very contemporary and exciting. I wanted that ‘wow’ factor”, Seed explains. It’s been a long process but the awe-inspiring results are worth it. “I love every inch of it,” says Seed. “Every corner, there was lots of thought and emotional investment put into it. So, I love the whole thing. And my clients do, too!”
